Greg Craven Slams No Campaign Over Misleading Voice Claims

Greg Craven slams No campaign over misleading Voice claims

'No campaign has played fast and loose with my comments': Lawyer Greg Cravens

Craven, a senior barrister advising the Albanese government on the Indigenous voice to parliament referendum, has accused the No campaign of misleading voters after it quoted him criticising the proposed Voice model.

Craven said the No campaign had "played fast and loose" with his comments, which were made in a private meeting with No campaign representatives.

Craven said he had told the No campaign representatives that he had concerns about the Voice's power to advise the executive government, but that he did not believe these concerns were sufficient to justify voting against the Voice.

"I said I had some concerns about the Voice's power to advise the executive government, but I also said that I thought the Voice was a good idea and that I would be voting Yes," Craven said.

"The No campaign has taken my comments out of context and used them to falsely claim that I am opposed to the Voice. This is simply not true."

Craven said he was "deeply disappointed" by the No campaign's actions.

"The No campaign is playing fast and loose with the truth, and it is misleading voters," Craven said.

"I urge voters to ignore the No campaign's scare tactics and vote Yes for the Voice."
